ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT: Job holder reports to the Programme Policy Officer of the country office. At this level, job holder is expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate support WFP field staff at field locations JOB PURPOSE: To provide effective coordination and operational support to WFP programme activities at field locations through close collaboration with WFP field staff. Coordinate and liaise with different units at the country office to ensure effective national and field level coordination to enhance operational efficiencies in the field. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive): Provide effective coordination support to WFP field staff to ensure the continued development of a cohesive and high performing team covering all WFP supported projects in the field Convene a regular field coordination meeting Engage in capacity building of the WFP field staff. Laise with different units at the country office, related to daily operational issues of field to ensure timely solutions to prevent losses or delays. Support field staff with their proactive work planning to position them to effectively support all WFP projected rolled out in the field. Support field team to ensure that allocated resources are used efficiently and timely and are in line with agreed plans, and any deviations are reported to the Area/Country Office. Ensure timely monitoring and evaluation of activities in the field. Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on WFP’s field activities and performance with regular and timely submissions. Support field teams to build effective and collaborative relations with the local authorities as well as regular meetings with local authorities with the scope of smooth timely implementation of WFP supported activities. Support field teams to build up effective collaboration with international and local NGOs, UN agencies, civil societies, beneficiaries and other partners engaged in the field of food security at their field locations. Support field level planning to host high level WFP, donor and other WFP supported stakeholder field missions. Ensure extensive and frequent presence at project areas, distribution sites and centers. Other as required by the operation QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. A first university degree in a relevant areas is an additional asset. Experience: Six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in food, nutrition, social protection, livelihood and disaster management thematic areas facing the field implementation aspect. Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge on WFP or any other UN agency particularly in the areas of food, nutrition, livelihood, social protection and disaster management focusing on field will be an asset. Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
