Organizational Context and Scope IOM supports the Government of Lebanon in ensuring safe, orderly, and regular migration by developing its capacity to effectively manage cross-border movements. In line with national and regional priorities, IOM’s Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Programme implements projects to improve border governance capacities in Lebanon, through infrastructure, equipment, capacity building and policy support to Lebanese authorities. This includes activities related to migrant regularization, identity management, border infrastructure and information systems, airport safety and humanitarian border management, among others. Under the overall supervision of the IBG Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the Migration Policy Officer (IBG), the Programme Associate (Human Rights) will be providing support to the thematic programme in support of border management authorities in Lebanon. In particular, the incumbent will support the implementation of activities and components of activities related to Human Rights, Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law, including in relation to the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP). The incumbent will also provide support for IBG projects at IOM Lebanon in the related area, contributing to activities related to the protection of Human Rights in immigration and border governance contexts.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will support the implementation of activities related to Human Rights, Humanitarian Law, and Refugee Law for border management authorities in Lebanon. This includes contributing to the protection of human rights within immigration and border governance contexts and adhering to the UN Human Rights Due Diligence Policy.
