BACKGROUND
The UNV Field Unit is mainly accountable for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes in Colombia, focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. The UNV Field Unit represents and positions UNV in the country and brings UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector.
SUPPORT UNV BRAND AWARENESS AND VOLUNTEER VALUE PROPOSITION
- In close coordination with the RO communications team, prepare, disseminate and present country-specific promotional information on the mandate and work of UNV with relevant stakeholders groups and UN client agencies;
- Coordinate and develop diverse, up-to-date communication materials for a wide range of audiences, including UN partners, UN Volunteers, candidates, sourcing partners, etc, based on corporate, regional and Field Unit priorities;
- Under the guidance of the Programme Specialist, coordinate activities and plan events, in collaboration with other UN agencies, for annual, national and UN-recognized international celebrations, including the International Volunteer Day (IVD);
- Edit and publish digital content, effectively conveying key messages to target audiences via web, social media platforms, and other spaces where UNV has a presence, focusing on mobilization and talent outreach;
- In collaboration with the Programme Specialist and RO Communications team, assist in shaping UNV’s presence on multiple social media platforms at the country level, including working alongside the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG), to ensure the greatest impact for UNV’s campaigns;
- Oversee content for social media platforms in the country, monitor interactions and track analytics;
- Develop, seek feedback on, and implement content plans to increase audience engagement in social media, and build community;
- Work closely with the RO communications team to ensure cohesive content production and development of communication products;
- Uphold UNV brand standards and ensure that communication strategies are duly implemented in alignment with the corporate ONE-UNV Brand project, enhancing brand visibility across all graphic, audiovisual, and editorial materials, both online and in print;
- Work with UN agencies, talent partners, and other stakeholders at the country level to publish UNV’s communication products and promote joint campaigns that enhance outreach and mobilization impact.
EDUCATION:
- Secondary education with technical training in administration, business administration, communications or related areas is required.
- University degree in social sciences, business, communications, or related areas is desirable but is not a requirement.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 6 years (with high school diploma) or 3 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant progressively responsible experience in communications, talent acquisition or development programmes is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience in MS Office 365 is required;
- Experience in corporate communications, and developing and implementing communication campaigns is required.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience in using digital marketing tools (e.g. LinkedIn, mailing campaigns, etc.) to engage with a broad range of stakeholders is highly desirable;
- Experience in data analysis and reporting is an asset;
- Experience in outreach campaigns to attract talent, including crafting compelling messaging, using social media platforms, and leveraging content strategies to engage prospective candidates, is an asset;
- Experience working with Salesforce Service Cloud would be an asset;
- Experience in an international or non-profit context would be an asset;
- Experience working with volunteers would be an asset.
