PROGRAMME LEADER - EAP – UNIVERSITY OF CUMBRIA - LANCASTER CAMPUS

Malvern International’s core purpose is to provide, with our partners, students from around the world with the opportunities to reach their full potential via access to transformational learning, teaching and support. We offer high quality courses to international students, professionals and others looking to improve their academic and English language skills.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our EAP programme, supporting international students in their academic journey. This role is central to delivering high-quality education in EAP that equips students with the academic knowledge and skills necessary for success in their degree programmes.
As EAP Programme Leader, you will be responsible for the strategic, operational and administrative management of our EAP programme. This includes the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of academic courses tailored to the needs of international students preparing for undertaking degree-level study.
Working collaboratively across the Centre and University, you will ensure that our programmes not only support student success but also contribute to the recruitment, retention and progression of international students. You will lead a team of academic staff, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery aligned with institutional goals and best practices in EAP education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s with significant experience in a relevant subject area
  • Proven experience in teaching and assessing international students at undergraduate level
  • An ability to work autonomously
  • Patience, commitment and sensitivity to the needs of international pathway students
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teaching teams
  • Demonstrable experience in EAP curriculum development and student assessment
  • Excellent organisational, planning, collaboration and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach, with experience working across departments or institutions
  • High proficiency in using technology to support teaching, learning, assessment and feedback
  • An ability to meet conflicting deadlines
  • A student-focused approach to teaching and learning

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the overall EAP programme, including progress tracking, and quality improvement
  • Lead and manage the delivery of EAP academic programmes
  • Design, review, and enhance curricula to ensure alignment with student needs and institutional objectives
  • Provide academic leadership to teaching teams, fostering professional development and a culture of excellence
  • Oversee student assessment and marking processes, ensuring they are robust, fair, and supportive of student progression
  • Collaborate with the centre and university departments and services to support the broader academic and digital skills agenda
  • Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, implementing improvements based on feedback and data
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
  • ·Teach a varied range of modules for a minimum of 18 hours per week
  • Carry out objective setting and appraisals for lecturers
  • Explore and implement new technologies to enhance teaching and learning
  • Working with the Head of Learning & Teaching / Centre Director to monitor and evaluate programme performance, ensuring student satisfaction, retention, and attainment targets are met
  • Support students through mentoring, developmental guidance, and other support services
  • Prepare marking and second marking rota
  • Hold personal weekly progress/monitoring meetings with students
  • Prepare and upload materials on VLE
  • Oversee and manage the VLE section for the EAP modules and programme
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Write semester and annual module and programme reports
  • Plan and carry out peer observations and writing observation reports.
