Key Responsibilities:

Research Planning and Proposal Development of Child Sponsorship-related Research Activities (35%)

• Supports the development of research proposals in alignment with the WVDF’s Research Strategy and Agenda
• Prepare the corresponding research plan outlining objectives, framework, sampling methodologies and analysis plan
• Assist in developing data quality protocols to ensure compliance to research and data collection standards

Data Collection, Analysis and Administrative Support (25%)

• Assist in the data collection process involving internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in data management, cleaning and analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data following the research framework and analysis plan
• Assist in completing and submitting liquidations or reimbursements of approved study expenses following financial policy
• Support in validating the findings with key stakeholders to ensure findings are reflective of real context

Report Preparation and Quality Review (20%)

• Prepare complete documentation of all the procedures done from planning to research report writing
• Write technical reports and research studies highlighting salient results from the analysis
• Present research findings to management, local stakeholders and partners
• Assist in reviewing other research studies done completed by consultants, where applicable, to ensure alignment with research standards

Data Use and Communication (10%)

• Prepare abridged version of briefs of the research studies appropriately tailored to the target audience
• Provide strategic support to communication, advocacy and resource development teams in maximizing the research results to position WVDF’s advocacies and branding in networks and coalitions
• Facilitate sharing/dissemination/launching of research findings to external stakeholders
• Evaluate existing research strategies and recommend improvements
• Monitor progress of action plans emerging from the research recommendations

Engage in Organizational Mandated Activities (10%)

• Complete all mandated staff training/orientations
• Engage in Relief Operations and Emergency Response (as needed)
• Regularly Participate in Spiritual Nurture Activities (e.g. Monday Devotion, Corporate Prayer and Day of Prayer)
• Participate as committee member or special task/assignment as deemed necessary

Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor’s Degree on any course related to Quantitative Social Sciences (e.g. Sociology, Economics, and Demography), Development Studies or Communication Research, as well as substantial work experience on program evaluation and research.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in developing research proposals submitted to donors and funding agencies.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research in both non-government organizations (NGO) and academic setting.
• Certifications from any Research, Ethics, and Compliance Training (not required, but highly preferred).
• Knowledge of social science research methods and analysis both quantitative and qualitative.
• Proficiency in data management, data analysis and technical writing is essential.
• Knowledge on statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, R and/or Python is an asset.
• Background in research and development and child rights work is an advantage.
• Fluency and excellent communication skills in English, knowledge of Tagalog or other Filipino languages/dialects is a strong plus.
• Highly interested in doing research related to issues affecting the most vulnerable children in the country.
• Physically and Mentally fit to conduct field research work.
