Police Digital Service (PDS) is recruiting on behalf of the NPCC National Data & Analytics Office - ) a dedicated national capability transforming data use in policing.
Starting at £35,000pa as a Programme Support Officer. This role is a Fixed Term for 12 months and you will be seconded from PDS into the NPCC & Data Analytics office.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking function within policing which will shape the future of data and analytics in UK law enforcement and help to utilise policing data to better protect the public. The NDAO will ensure:

  • Responsible data use across law enforcement
  • Improved data governance and standardised datasets
  • Enhanced data analytics services to support operational decision-making
  • Professionalisation of data roles within policing
  • A more integrated data-sharing ecosystem across forces

This role will work closely with the Project Manager assigned to the NDAO and is a unique opportunity to be part of a team who will establish a new National Data and Analytics Office, whose core purpose is to enable a consolidated approach to data initiatives across policing.
As an innovative and responsive professional, your primary role will be to deliver professional support to NDAO, encompassing both operational support to the Programme Teams and the National Police Data Board. You will provide effective stakeholder engagement across policing leadership and partners through your already highly developed interpersonal, advocacy and communication skills to ensure Policing is able to make the most of NDAO.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Servicing of Programme and Project Boards and groups as required, scheduling force and communication engagement sessions and tracking of outputs and actions.
  • Delivering communications with and to client forces in the Policing family, working closely with the Communications Team and external Policing Engagement Officers for each Force and Region.
  • Being the central point for the co-ordination and cascading of all correspondence related to the projects and workstreams.
  • Advising forces and those we work with on programme and change process matters and promotion of collaboration updates.
  • Sharing testimonies and good practice examples of support efforts in managing NDAO Projects & Programmes with other parties.
  • Drafting of reports & presentations on behalf of the team and proofreading items when required.
  • Keeping/ administering all electronic data and hard copy data ensuring accessibility for programme and Force staff on SharePoint in PMO and Teams directories.
  • Providing guidance to Programme and Project Managers of governance processes and templates.
  • As a key member of the team you will identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NDAO, contributing new ideas and providing feedback.
  • To provide support in tracking the finances and programme expenditure in line with the key deliverables.
  • Must be willing to work at and travel to various locations around the county as required.
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be prepared to meet short term demands to work outside normal office hours.

  • Maintaining standards for information metadata tagging and file storage to be accessible to Teams and Forces.
