POSITION SUMMARY The Programmer is responsible for architecting and delivering advanced automation solutions that drive operational excellence and safety. In this role, you’ll lead PLC and HMI development—primarily on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platforms—while collaborating closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and management to diagnose and resolve process control challenges. You’ll define instrumentation requirements, design machine control and safety circuitry in compliance with NEC/NFPA standards and configure variable frequency drives to optimize performance. Through proactive troubleshooting, implementation of new technologies, and rigorous adherence to corporate programming and electrical-design standards, you’ll ensure reliable, efficient, and scalable control systems. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for design and implementation of control solutions geared towards process improvement. Serves as the main PLC programming resource for the project, and designs and implements effective HMI controls. Interfaces with production operators, maintenance, management, and engineering groups to achieve the best possible solutions to process control problems. Maintains and troubleshoots process operations to ensure safety and reliability. Implements new technology to maximize process efficiency. PLC specification and programming, including HMI development following, established corporate-wide standards. Specify and apply instrumentation for process application. Machine control circuitry and motor control design, including safety circuits and adherence to NEC and NFPA codes. Configure and control Variable Frequency Drives. Electrical design, including the creation of schematic diagrams. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS COMPETENCIES Advanced Allen-Bradley ControlLogix programming proficiency Design, configure, and troubleshoot Ethernet/IP and Profibus systems Expertise in variable-speed drive setup and programming Ability to read and create electrical/process-control schematics; AutoCAD skills a plus Strong numerical aptitude and ability to interpret engineering drawings Clear verbal and written communication; sound judgment in a diverse team environment Proactive self-starter who can juggle multiple priorities and deadlines EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS Associate’s degree, specialized education, or related training in process control (preferred) 3–5+ years in a similar electrical or controls role AutoCAD training or certification Vendor-specific PLC or drive system credentials (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) BENEFITS Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Fully Covered by the Company Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) Insurance for Accidents, Hospitalizations, and Critical Illness 401K with company match.
