Job Title: Project Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Project Accountant to manage and oversee billings based on contract and costs to date or schedule of values. The role involves reviewing and interpreting job cost information to incorporate all applicable costs, submitting invoices for approval before issuance to customers, and creating job cost substantiations. Additionally, you will process and maintain incoming/outgoing contract and subcontract documents, billing requests, and correspondence. Responsibilities Issue billings based on contract and costs to date or schedule of values. Review and interpret job cost information to ensure all applicable costs are incorporated. Submit invoices for approval before issuance to the customer. Create job cost substantiations and process requests for insurance certificates. Review contracts and proposals to identify payment terms, billing rates, and allowable charges. Review and process subcontract documents including compliance for individual subcontracts. Set up and maintain project phase codes and billing templates. Process and assemble required administrative documents including certified payrolls and union affidavits. Make friendly collection inquiries, update notes in accounts receivable, reconcile billing discrepancies, and escalate issues to management. Manage tier releases required to obtain timely customer payment. Process and calculate billing rates for final review consistent with company policy and procedure. Prepare reports and analysis for external billing audits. Communicate effectively with subcontractors, project managers, and other staff to ensure projects are maintained. Essential Skills Project accounting and job costing experience. Proficiency in reconciliation and construction accounting. At least 2 years of relevant billing, accounting, and/or construction experience. Experience with Viewpoint Vista software for project accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, by e-mail, and in writing. Intermediate Excel skills. Ability to read and identify specific contract language to produce accurate billings. Strong organizational skills and the ability to schedule, communicate, and meet deadlines. Flexibility to change priorities and re-prioritize tasks under pressure. Aptitude for working with computers and advanced problem-solving skills. Ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential information. Capability to perform with limited supervision and build positive rapport with clients and co-workers. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
