Description

About the Company
Our client is a well-established and award-winning industrial real estate developer with over 30 years of success across Western Canada. Known for their strong commitment to community building and long-standing partnerships, they continue to deliver innovative and high-quality projects. As they grow, they’re looking to add a Project Accountant to support their dynamic operations and finance teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build on their foundational accounting experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, particularly if you’re interested in real estate development, construction, or project-based work.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with Project Managers, you’ll play a key role in managing the financial health of multiple real estate development projects. From full-cycle accounting and monthly reporting to project cost analysis and liaising with external stakeholders, this role offers exposure to the full life cycle of a project within a well-run and supportive finance team.
You’ll thrive here if you’re analytical, proactive, and enjoy having ownership over your portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle project accounting for multiple active developments
  • Handle high-volume AP/AR and invoice management with attention to accuracy and deadlines
  • Maintain and update project job codes and cost tracking throughout the life cycle of each project
  • Collaborate with project managers to track budgets, commitments, and actual costs
  • Monitor and report on project percent completion and revenue recognition
  • Reconcile project costs and prepare monthly WIP and cost reports
  • Ensure compliance with real estate and construction accounting practices
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly draw packages, billing schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany allocations
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and support decision-making
  • Support year-end audit preparation and respond to auditor queries as required

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (real estate, construction, or project-based experience is a strong asset)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general accounting software
  • Familiarity with Jonas is an asset
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and project cost tracking preferred
  • A proactive, analytical mindset and a genuine interest in learning the business behind the numbers
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to partner with non-finance teams
