We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic Project Accountant to join our team. This position is an opportunity to oversee end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of Pacific’s dynamic and fast-moving construction projects.

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar accounting role, with construction industry experience being a strong asset.
  • A degree, diploma, or certificate in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Progress toward an accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of treasury functions, including online banking systems and processing wire transfers, ACH, EFT, and bill payments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • A self-motivated mindset with the ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, delivered with professionalism and clarity.
  • A solutions-oriented approach with a positive, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

As a key member of our Finance team at Made by Pacific, you will drive the financial success of our innovative construction projects. Your role will focus on delivering comprehensive accounting support, ensuring precision and efficiency across a diverse project portfolio. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Overseeing full-cycle accounting for assigned construction projects, from initiation to completion.
  • Managing billing processes, including time and materials billing, progress billing, and client invoicing.
  • Handling Accounts Receivable, including proactive follow-ups with clients and Project Managers to resolve AR balances.
  • Recording cash receipts accurately and promptly.
  • Setting up and maintaining project, client, and vendor/subcontractor profiles in our Sage accounting system, including project estimates.
  • Ensuring subcontractor compliance with WSBC (WorkSafeBC) and CRA GST requirements.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and leadership to provide insights on project profitability, reporting, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Leading billing reviews with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment.
  • Preparing, signing, and delivering Statutory Declarations to stakeholders as required.
  • Conducting variance analysis and generating detailed reports.
  • Completing month-end tasks, including GL journal entry postings and reconciliations for assigned accounts (e.g., GL or credit card accounts).
  • Assisting with monthly GST reporting and filing.
  • Providing cross-functional support within the Finance team, including AP tasks such as invoice processing and vendor payment preparation.
  • Serving as a trusted expert within the Finance team, with cross-training to support other roles as needed.
  • Embracing opportunities to manage growth and change, taking on ad hoc duties to support the team’s evolving needs.
