Description Position Summary The Project Accountant is responsible for the accounting operations of projects under contract and supporting Project Managers. This position will report to the Director of Finance. Additional accounting tasks are varied and will be assigned by the Director of Finance. The Project Accountant will operate in a self-reliant manner with no direct reports. A signed confidentiality agreement is required for this position. The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Accounting: • Contract management • Project set-up • Project invoicing (monthly) • Expense tracking • Work in conjunction with Project Managers to ensure projects are set up accurately • Budget set-up support • INDOT billing rate documentation • Provide updates and tracking of project contracts • Budget confirmation and setup • Monthly work-in-progress review and reporting • Train staff on accounting/project ERP • Contract review and processing • Accounts Receivable: prepare draft Invoices for review, ensure timely processing of monthly invoices for submission • Document preparation for reimbursables • Assign fleet vehicle mileage charges to projects • Perform time sheet QA/QC • Compile updates annually for billing rate tables • Project Expenses • Utilize accounting/project ERP for specific inquiries and reports • Verify expenses are allocated to the specific job and are billed accurately • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations • Utilize ERP for accurate reporting of employee expenses and time • Work within company policy as outlined in the Shrewsberry & Associates, LLC Employee Handbook and the Shrewsberry Safety Program Manual and OSHA Safety rules Requirements Education and/or Experience • Five or more years of experience in public/private accounting required • B.S. degree in accounting preferred • Billing/Invoicing experience required • Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry experience preferred • Familiarization with accounting and finance methods in accordance with GAAP & Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is a plus Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Must establish and maintain an excellent rapport and working relationship with all team members and other key individuals to ensure that all objectives are achieved. • High level of investigative and problem-solving skills required. • Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness are a must. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of accounting and project management systems preferred • Excellent follow-through, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills • Handle work under pressure and deadlines, along with the ability to prioritize as new requests are received. • Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently as well as part of the accounting team • Experience working with contracts/proposals relating to professional services preferred • Complete discretion required to handle confidential and sensitive information We’re an equal opportunity employer.
