UGL is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Perth. This role is responsible for billing the client while managing WIP and AR balances, establishing and controlling project finances, deep-diving into data and generating financial reports, providing insight, and leading process improvement in the tracking and management of financial and cost data. This position works with the Finance Lead providing necessary financial support to maximise contract outcomes and allow the business to clearly establish a contract’s likely net financial position at completion. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and execute client claims and invoicing. Manage day-to-day debtors and WIP aging and maintain forecasted working capital Assist the Finance Lead to analyse financial and project information, identifying opportunities/risks and recommending improvements Manage contract management reports including budget and forecasts, utilisation reporting, and any other ad-hoc analysis as requested & maintain the data integrity of the contract financial data in SAP Manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in SAP Monitor cost code allocations & provide an analysis of cost deviations and corrective measures Prepare any site-specific journals for cost transfers or accruals at month end Review and ensure all labour and other costs are accounted for. Perform month end based cost reviews in conjunction with Finance Lead Proactively identify and recommend solutions to improve processes Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures About You: The successful candidate will be: Degree and CPA/CA qualified (or equivalent) with 4+ years’ experience in broad financial roles; OR 6 years’ experience in a similar position in broad financial roles Advanced Excel & MS skills. Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels, both internally and externally. Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude Knowledge of multiple commercial structures, ideally Lump Sum and Schedule of Rates contracts. Desirable Skills & Experience: Demonstrated to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills . Experience in using SAP or large ERP systems.
