QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in project cost accounting or financial management in a project-based environment (e.g. engineering/oil & gas) is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with Dynamics D365 or similar ERP systems is highly regarded.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and financial controls.
  • Skilled in dashboard development and report writing.
  • Analytical approach to financial and cost accounting.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of project income and costs, from planning and forecasting to close-out. You’ll work closely with the Project Management Team to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting, while also supporting month-end and year-end processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage project invoicing, client approvals, and submission via supplier portals.
  • Oversee month-end processes including intercompany recharges, journal entries, and P&L reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy of WIP accounts and compliance with contract terms.
  • Set up and manage project costs and variations in Dynamics 365.
  • Coordinate debt collection and establish payment plans where necessary.
  • Support operations with cost management and variance explanations.
  • Provide commercial and administrative support to the operations team.
  • Build dashboards and reports for project performance analysis.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Reconcile GL entries and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Financial modelling, preferably using Power BI.
  • Month end year end processing.
  • Assist with the annual audit.
