Description

ABOUT US

University College London (UCL) is one of the world’s top universities. Based in the heart of London, it is a dynamic, outward-looking institution. At its establishment in 1826, UCL was radical and responsive to the needs of society, and this ethos – that excellence should go hand-in-hand with enriching society –continues today.
The Department of Geography is truly international in both its outlook and in its membership, with students and staff from over 40 countries. We have over 400 students on our undergraduate programmes, more than 180 Masters students across 9 programmes, and approximately 90 PhD candidates.
Currently UCL Geography has almost 50 Academic and Teaching staff, approximately 20 postdoctoral researchers, and 24 professional services staff. The Department also hosts scholars from across the world visiting the Department to pursue their research. The variety of backgrounds, experience, ages and nationalities, as well as the vast array of resources and facilities at UCL and throughout London, ensures a rewarding, stimulating and varied student experience.
The Department has a long and distinguished tradition of top-quality cross and interdisciplinary research with social scientists, climate modellers, data scientists, urbanists, environmental scientists and geoscientists all working on a huge variety of projects across the domains of Environment, Resources, Heritage and Social Science.
