Description:

Purpose and Scope:
The Project Advisor of Virtual Education and Logistics is responsible for the development, oversight, and implementation of initiatives that elevate Virtual Education & Logistics Programs. Delivers at a high level of competency in management of special projects at the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, working on unusually complex problems and providing solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs a full range of administrative and complex work for multiple programs and projects for the Virtual Education & Logistics division.
  • Takes on special projects and new programs, in a project management role or otherwise, at the direction of the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Supports the Assistant Superintendent in developing and implementing logistical engagement strategies.
  • Provides leadership and a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in project management, and is viewed as an expert in the field.
  • Works collaboratively with Assistant Superintendent and other related departments within the division to determine proper lead time, funding and procurement needs/limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing or resource needs.
  • Deals with unusually complex problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvements. Ensures that the workgroup’s goals and activities are in sync with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization and that the execution of responsibilities is in accordance with lawful and ethical standards.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities, and operations; provide for appropriate research and compile reports, as needed; prepares project status reports, organizes and conducts project team meetings.
  • Acts as a liaison between departments in coordinating staff development sessions for special projects and routine operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; PLUS five (5) years of related experience in related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling nine (9) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.
  • Ability to communicate frequently and effectively with internal and external customers throughout the District, using tact and good judgment to complete assigned projects.
  • Ability to make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions, commits to action, even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals causing change.
  • Ability to identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information an use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to build high-performing teams.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult hostile, or distressed;
  • Ability to adapt to change, behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles effectively deals with ambiguity.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex analysis in easy-to-understand manner and present to a broad audience.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers for sign language.
Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
