Description

Balmoral, a division of Balmoral Group, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.
This is a fixed term position for a period of three to six months the role is for a Project and Engineering Planner to support Engineering.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB’S FUNCTION

  • Align all Project and Engineering Documentation to the overall manufacturing plan and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain detailed MS Project Schedules tracking actual time taken for documentation release.
  • Co-ordinate with Engineering and Projects to ensure schedule integration.
  • Identify and highlight scheduling conflicts between documentation and production activities, proposing solutions to resolve them
  • Mitigate risks and delays through proactive planning and communication.
  • Support reporting and communication of schedule status to stakeholders
Responsibilities
  • Support reporting and communication of schedule status to stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using MS Project, ensuring alignment between Engineering deliverables and Production milestones.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Production teams to gather input and validate schedule accuracy.
  • Monitor progress against the baseline schedule and update forecasts as required.
  • Support the integration of planning data with documentation control systems and production planning tools.
  • Provide regular reports to management to communicate schedule status, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders.
  • Aid in identifying resource gaps to management to allow re-allocation of resources as required.
  • Participate in project meetings, offering planning insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Assist in change management processes by assessing the impact of scope changes on the project schedule.
  • Ensure planning practices comply with internal procedures and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the Project and Engineering functions.
    Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND: Ideally in Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional Professional certification(APM(PFQ or PMQ) or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Projects is essential.
  • Knowledge of production planning principles and documentation control processes.

Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years experience working in a Project Management or Planning environment.
  • Proven experience in project planning within Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to align documentation and production schedules across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts in complex project environments.
  • Strong track record of using Microsoft Project for schedule development, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience working in contractor or freelance roles within project-driven organisations

Skills / Training

Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project for planning and reporting.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Able to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Understanding of Engineering and Production workflows.
  • Familiar with documentation control systems.
  • Training in project management methodologies (e.g. APM, PMI).
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively utilise resources, and the ability to plan, control, and take responsibility for own work.
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel packages.
  • General office administration experience.
  • Keyboard and computer systems skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with Balmoral Group products and services.
