PROJECT ARCHITECT

SUM Design Studio + architecture is seeking a Project Architect to join our growing team. Candidates must have 8+ years of experience within an architecture or design firm and hold a 4-year professional degree.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong design eye and the ability to translate creative ideas into construction drawings and details
  • Experience with all phases of the architectural process, including master planning, zoning, life safety, permitting, design development, design review, drafting, project documentation, and construction administration
  • In-depth knowledge of building code, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques
  • Practical field experience with construction administration, verifying proper building construction and adherence to architectural drawings
  • Technical proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with mixed-use housing, apartment and residential design using both wood frame and podium construction methodologies
  • Licensed Architect in the State of Oregon or a genuine interest in pursuing licensure
  • A solid ability to multitask, prioritize project tasks and produce high quality work while managing various deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Collaborate with principals, internal teams, and consultants to support projects in all phases, from planning through construction administration
  • Develop design concepts and produce complete, code-compliant drawings in conjunction with internal teams
  • Establish trusted relationships with clients while working to translate their needs into meaningful design
