  TITLE: Project Assistant (Child Protection) TEAM/PROGRAMME: Child Protection          LOCATION: Sittwe, Camp Number of Position: 1 GRADE: NAT-5               CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)  Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing vetting process staff.    ROLE PURPOSE:  The Project Assistant will be responsible for developing the child protection capacity of partners/key community individuals, as well as carrying out activities that support the protection of children from violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect through case management. The role of the CP Project Assistant is to provide case management services in an appropriate, timely, and systematic manner in accordance with the SOPs and to provide regular coaching and supervision support to PSS facilitators / community volunteers for MHPSS activities and community awareness raising activities.  SCOPE OF ROLE:  Reports to: Project Officer Staff directly reporting to this post:  Community Faciliatator Budget Responsibilities:  No Financial Approval  Role Dimensions:    Regular Contact of basic factual information  KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY  Program Implementation and quality:  •             Facilitate child protection/MHPSS capacity development program for frontline workers and key community members. •             Conduct deep context analysis of child protection risks and existing child protection practices and resources on an ongoing basis. •             Support frontline workers and community members in safely identifying and referring child protection risks in a timely manner. •             Support children and their families through the case management process (six steps: identification and registration, assessment, case planning, implementation of the case plan, follow-up and review, case closure). •             Ensure quality case management services for girls, boys and those identifying as non-binary, children with complex needs, who have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation and/or meet the eligibility criteria defined in the SOPs. •             Provide psychosocial support to children and families as part of the case management process •             Provide capacity support for volunteers who work as facilitators for Child Friendly Space •             Assist to  the Project Officer  in moving forward on key project activities •             Assist in implementing CVA and C4P activities under the guidance of Project Officers. •             Support identification and basic assessments of children/families who may need CVA/C4P. •             Help prepare documentation for registration, verification, and follow up of cash support. •             Assist in monitoring, including PDM, data collection, and accountability activities with MEAL. •             Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure safe handling of cash related information.   Engagement with communities and CSO partners •             Build trust and work in partnership with key community members, local authorities, and partner staff/frontline workers with respect  •             Strengthen coordination with other CSO and NGO service providers to ensure timely and safe referrals to appropriate support and services •             Maintain an up-to-date service mapping for the areas in which she or he works. •             Support coordination with communities, volunteers, and local partners regarding CVA/C4P activities.   Ensuring quality case management and monitoring •             Work in a way that respects guiding principles defined in the SOPs •             Fill in and use case management forms appropriately; registration, assessment, case plan, implementation, case notes for home visits and case review, and case closure   Developing self and others (peers) •             Participate in regular case management meetings with other Project Assistants and supervisors  •             Prepare for and participate in regular structured individual supervision sessions with their supervisors, identifying challenges and areas for professional development. •             Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities, including formal trainings, shadowing/observation, Project Assistants capacity assessments and skills identified in competency framework  Child Safeguarding •             Responsibility to create and promote an environment where the Child Safeguarding Policy is effectively implemented. •             Understand and fulfil their specific and additional responsibilities in achieving compliance of Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy standards.   BEHAVIOURS (Values in Practice)   Accountability: •             Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling Save the Children values. •             Holds the team and partners accountable to deliver on their responsibilities - giving them the freedom to deliver in the best way they see fit, providing the necessary development to improve performance and applying appropriate consequences when results are not achieved. Job Requirements:                Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, or related field.              Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing child protection programming including Case Management.               At least 2  years in implementing and working with children and youth, at least 2 years experiences of Child Protection Case Management and humanitarian works.               Experience in child protection or community based programming is an asset.                            Shows ability to plan, schedule, and direct the work of self and others.               High motivation to work under difficult circumstances and Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.               Ability to communicate a clear vision, motivation and commitment to the safety and well-being of case workers.               Previous experience working for an NGO or other non-profit organization is preferrable.               Good interpersonal, communication skills and attention to detail.               Flexible work attitude: the ability to work productively in a team environment & independently.               Sets work schedules and caseload/workload standards that promote the effective and efficient use of staff and delivery of services.               Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values, and principles.              Good written and spoken skills in local language.              Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements              A commitment to children’s rights, children’s participation, and non-discrimination.               Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with partners, community and stakeholders.               Experience in CVA, MPCA, or integrated Cash for Protection is an asset   Skills and Experience:  • At least 2 years in implementing and working with children and youth, at least 2 years experiences of Child Protection Case Management.  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitating skills.  • Ability to work in a high-conflict environment with sensitivity and cultural awareness.    Education:  • University degree on psychology, social science, education, nursing, humanitarian, related or equivalent experiences.    Communication and Technical Skills  • Good personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.  • Experience managing child protection cases in a sensitive and child friendly manner.  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization      Additional job responsibilities The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
