Primary objective
To grow and build an expert, and culturally responsive education workforce of capable and thriving employees to achieve
agency priorities, with a particular focus on educators and increasing the Aboriginal workforce.
Context statement
The position works as part of a team and across teams to achieve strategic workforce objectives with a strong focus on
specific Department of Education and Training initiatives for the attraction, recruitment and retention of the Aboriginal
Workforce.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Perform as a highly capable member of the unit by working towards the delivery of multidimensional projects, programs
and initiatives that supports Aboriginal employment and career development to achieve the strategic goals of the
department.
2. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships, and networks with key stakeholders across government and within the
education and training sector.
3. Participate in forums and groups to represent the department and share information relevant to growing Aboriginal
workforce.
4. Collect, collate and analyse Aboriginal workforce data on an ongoing basis to ensure an evidence-based approach is used
to inform Aboriginal workforce initiatives.
5. Monitor progress of the departments’ Aboriginal workforce initiatives including preparation of reports, briefs and papers
for the Education and Training Executive Board and other key relevant stakeholders.
6. Provide effective general administrative support services including financial administration, quality record keeping and
reporting and data management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated project and program management experience in the context of workforce planning and human resourcing.
2. Demonstrated ability to scope, research, monitor, review and risk manage the design and delivery of team projects and
programs to deliver on Aboriginal workforce initiatives and strategies.
3. Demonstrated ability to undertake research and analyse information from multiple sources, and provide well-informed
recommendations, that consider complex and interconnected issues.
4. Highly developed communication skills, including strong interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, conducive to
maintaining effective relationships and managing diverse stakeholder groups.
5. Proven ability to prepare complex briefs, letters, emails and reports.
6. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, including remote community perspectives and ability to
communicate sensitively and work collaboratively with Aboriginal people.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualification/s or progression towards a relevant qualification in human resource management, project
management, or other relevant discipline
