Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing The Renewable Construction team is responsible for detailed design, procurement (including strategy, contract preparation, tendering, negotiations and award of key contracts), site construction works, commissioning and handover of Meridian’s new generation sites. The team works closely with iwi, stakeholders, consultants, suppliers, regional authorities, contractors and other teams within Meridian. You will be: Providing engineering procurement and contracting support for major renewable energy construction projects; Developing contracts and technical schedules (including specifications) for the procurement of renewable generation technologies (wind, solar, BESS) and assisting in negotiations with key suppliers and contractors; Providing technical advice and input into the key interfaces between workstreams and contracts to ensure that design integration, risk and programme are well understood and managed for the projects; Building and maintaining relationships with international suppliers of renewable generation technology; Providing contract engineering and administration support to site teams during the construction phase of the projects. Strong contract/commercial experience, ideally within the renewable energy construction sector is preferred. Familiarity with renewable generation equipment and understanding of the complexity of the supply contracts. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate effectively with suppliers and contractors. A self-directed, collaborative approach, and strong connections in the engineering construction and consultancy markets in New Zealand and overseas. Ability to speak up when something isn’t right or doesn’t seem right, to capture and resolve issues prior to crystalising a cost, time delay or reputational issue.
