ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure the accuracy of data communicated and reported to all stakeholders.
  • The highlighting of any current and potential issues to the Senior Project Manager, PCM and Project Manager.
  • Maintain compliance with approved processes, procedures and Project Execution Plans.
  • The active contribution to continuous improvement of the functional quality and performance of Project Controls.
  • Take a proactive role in the continuous improvement of project reporting across all elements of the DNTS business.
  • Support the mobilisation of all new DNTS Bids, Projects and/or Business Campaigns.

WHAT WE NEED

The preferred candidate will have experience in the Government and Defence sector, along with a background in the services and/or construction industry. Additionally, expertise in ERP migration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented and detail-driven Project Controls Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge projects within the Defence Nuclear Technology Systems (DNTS) Division in the UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide and manage the Project Controls framework, systems and resources to deliver an effective cost control and reporting service to Project Managers and Sponsors.
  • Facilitate the production of the project WBS.
  • Prepare, monitor and forecast cost and schedule baselines and working schedules during all project phases reporting to key stakeholders via the DNTS Electronic Project Status Report (ePSR) process.
  • Establish and maintain a Basis of Schedule for all schedules produced.
  • Ensure all applicable schedule activities have Rules of Credit and Quantity Tracking mechanisms established.
  • Prepare, monitor and forecast expenditure profiles and provide accruals where needed.
  • Prepare cost and progress reports, including earned value analysis, identifying critical areas and trends and recommend recovery options.
  • Maintain the cost control and planning databases and validate data across systems.
  • Ensure all commitments are recorded and maintain forecasts within approved financial limits.
  • Maintain an estimate of the outturn value of the project and prepare the EAC for review and approval.
  • Identify and track all changes or potential changes to the project baseline and subsequent underpinning of change control mechanisms.
  • Provide the required information to support the risk process.
  • Provide project outturns against baseline for LFE and Knowledge Management.
  • Mentor and support Assistant Project Control Engineers in their development.
