Overview Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Project Controls Engineer in San Diego to support our North City Pure Water Facility Project, part of the PURE program to upgrade San Diego's water treatment system. This challenging position will provide long-term growth opportunity and will be responsible for updating and maintaining the P6 schedule, monthly cost reports, weekly labor cost reports, monthly pricing, and similar functions to support this complex project. Responsibilities Provides objective analysis and sound judgement with application of principles and techniques to evaluate and report project performance from concept study to construction & startup including practical assessment of schedule completion and expected final cost. Competencies include setup of work breakdown structure, establishing levels of control and detail, planning and scheduling, cost analysis and forecasting, progress measurement, earned value performance, risk analysis and change control. Responsible for managing, controlling, forecasting and reporting cost and schedule performance for projects throughout the organization. Services include setting up and managing project controls systems (including setup of work breakdown structure), capturing to-date progress and expenditure data, analyzing to-date performance data, forecasting at-completion performance data (EAC costs, hours), analyzing project risks (contingency management), managing change and incorporating scope variations into schedule and cost deliverables, and preparing associated reports. Works with company financial systems and processes. Works with company financial systems and processes. Develops proficiency in the use of company cornerstone systems and provides cost data in formats necessary to control the project. Understands financial terminology and measures and recognizes the financial impact of various project actions. Assists in analyzing and using financial data to identify key project issues. Able to use drawings and specifications in the establishment of project baseline data Develops knowledge of accounting principles. Assists in assembling data for trending and forecasting. Prepares analysis of progress trends and cost impact. May participate in reviewing and approving contractor invoices. Has knowledge of earned value methodology. Collects and analyzes data on manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations. Collects and analyzes data for tracking actual cost to funding limitations. Assists in tracking purchase orders and subcontract commitments and expenditures. Possesses the knowledge of scope control and change management. Assists with the creation of baseline budgets. Exposure to scheduling process concepts and principles. Exposure to performance management and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles. Supports the project reporting process as required. Participates in project cost review meetings. Gathers data for procedure development. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering or related field + minimum of 4 years of relevant project controls experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Heavy civil construction project experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience involving Water/Wastewater treatment plant construction projects. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. The salary range for this position is between $115,000 - $150,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
