Job Description
AECOM is seeking Project Controls Quantity Surveyor / Estimators to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This position will be at the office 5 days a week.
Functional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the program estimate breakdown structure and determine the appropriate methods of measurement for the program.
- Reviews and comments on the contractor’s cost estimates including those associated with Target Price submissions and Change Requests.
- Provides advice and guidance to the Program Leads and Program Controls and Commercial Leads with respect to cost estimating.
- Produces (where necessary) bottom-up estimates as part of the assurance process to validate the contractor’s estimate.
- Maintains a library of rates and benchmark information for the program.
- Collaborate with PMO Services to report and integrate estimating information and support program-wide estimating.
Coaching, monitoring, and supporting the career development of GTAA staff.
Introduced to estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for preparing estimates and company estimating systems and processes.
- Exposed to various processes, project actions and assumptions that may impact estimates.
- Gathers, calculates and compiles data for use in developing all types of estimates.
- Performs the routine aspects of estimating assignments.
- Assists senior specialists in performing various estimating functions as required.
- Exposed to drawings, specifications, work breakdown structures, charts of accounts, published and internal data used in preparing estimates.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelors Degree/ Certification required and 2 years of related experience, a mix of studies and experience will be considered.
STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recognized degree in quantity surveying, cost and commercial management, project management, or another relevant field, and or Completion of a three-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology and several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade.
- Strongly Preferred Minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying / estimating on large infrastructure programs, aviation programs are considered an asset.
- A recognized designation as Cost Control Professional (CCP), Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Royal Institute Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other cost management software tools and applications to document and illustrate cost performance.
- Experience in cost reporting and the integration of cost information from across the program to create consolidated program-level cost estimating reports.
- General understanding of program controls and the interdependencies between cost, schedule, risk, and scope
EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
- University education with applicable further development in Industrial Project Management would be preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or AACE Certification preferred.
- Industrial construction, Transportation, Infrastructure experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Primavera P6 Cost Engineering Estimating Software (e.g. Prism, Ecosys, ePM, Acumen Fuse / Risk ,Monte Carlo Simulation (e.g. @Risk, Crystal ball)
