TITLE: Project Coordinator – Child Protection TEAM/PROGRAMME: Child Protection LOCATION: Central Myanmar Number of Position: 1 GRADE: NAT- 3 CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff. ROLE PURPOSE: The Child protection coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) program and activities in assigned areas, including case management, capacity development of frontline workers in child protection and mental health psychosocial support (MHPSS), Child Friendly Space (CFS), and the engagement with key stakeholders and partners. As a supervisor for case supervisors (Project Officers) and project assistants, the post holder will provide ongoing coaching and supervision. Key objectives of the child protection coordinator are to: • To ensure the effective implementation of CPiE support for girls and boys who are being affected by ongoing displacement and conflict in central Myanmar region. • To provide capacity and psychosocial support for PO,PAs as well as frontline workers working with partner agencies; and, • To build trust and strengthen partnership with relevant partners and to ensure partners’ implementation are on track and aligned with agreed workplan. • To strengthen trust and working relationship with duty bearers, partners and local authorities with an aim to promote awareness of child protection in conflict situations.To work with other case management actors and service providers on safe referrals and management of caseload. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Program Manager Staff directly reporting to this post: Project Officers, Project Assistants Budget Responsibilities: 5000 USD Travel : Frequent (Over 6 days per month) KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY : Program Implementation and Quality: • Conduct ongoing deep context analysis, including child protection risks and community resources that can be strengthened to ensure CPiE at the community level • Support the project team and partners in adapting the IEC tools and disseminating appropriate information on child protection and MHPSS • Organize effective capacity development programs for the project team, as well as CSO partner staff/frontline workers /CFS animators • Support caseworkers including Partners’ to implement case management, as per SC’s Steps to Protection Common Approach and in alignment with the guiding principles and minimum standards of case management • Assign caseloads to caseworkers (through discussion and agreement being reached) based on a caseworker’s competencies and a reasonable and agreed work load • Ensure adequate documentation of cases including Recognization / registration, assessment, case plan, implementation, follow up and case review, and case closure • Intensive Support and/or directly manage the most complex and sensitive cases • Promote gender equality and the inclusion of disabled children in all activities implemented in the project • Generate a common understanding of child protection in conflict situation with key stakeholders Closely monitor the budget vs. actual • Share progress reports on monthly basis and input to donor reports when required Capacity Building and Supervision • Provide thorough capacity development support for CSO partners and their frontline workers on the basics of child protection and MHPSS • Prepare for and facilitate both one on one supervision sessions with individual case supervisors, as well as group sessions with PO and PAs • As part of supervision, provide ongoing mentoring and coaching of case supervisors and PAs in line with the SOPs and other case management tools. • Support case supervisors in their professional capacity development and self-care, through promoting reflective practice, self-awareness, and collaborative problem solving • Build capacity of key stakeholders and leaders on the protection of children in conflict settings • Conduct a caseworker capacity assessment in line with the competency-based framework. • Prepare for and lead structured individual supervision sessions with each caseworker / community social worker1 • Lead group supervision of case management meetings, with local teams2 • Ensure the safety of case management team within the communities they are operating, including the provision of PPEs in times of infectious diseases. • Check in regularly with case workers on their overall physical/emotional and psychological wellbeing • Promote self-care of caseworkers, such as ensuring reasonable caseload, ensuring staff wellbeing when dealing with challenging cases, and allow for vacation time when needed • Participate in the design of new project proposals including field assessments, budget’s development, work plan and logical frameworks • Assit Program manager in preparing the periodic program report and donor reports. • Compile program/ project reports as required. • Any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor Grant Management • Assist the Program Manager in managing the budget, ensuring that transactions comply with Save the Children’s and the donors’ financial and compliance policies. • Make sure that any particular issue, information or change on context, project or resources and which requires informing the donor is informed to the Program Manager.
