JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Supervisor of Project Support of Engineering Management Office within Engineering, Construction & Transportation Management division, this position provides support and coordination on project activities through the project lifecycle, from initial planning to completion with the objective of ensuring Regional infrastructure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal education/training in project management or a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from PMI.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering from an OACETT accredited college or other recognized institution or CET designation.
  • Detail orientated and possess strong analytical skills coupled with excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office products, project management systems and CCMS (Construction Contract Management System) or equivalent program.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards & Specifications (OPSS), Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD), American Water Works Association Standards (AWWA), Ontario’s Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
  • Ability to effectively work with and provide support to multi-disciplined teams consisting of Project Managers, Senior Project Advisors, Contract Administrators, Designers and Consultants.
  • Technical understanding of planning, design, construction and commissioning of road, water and wastewater infrastructure, including best practices and evolving technologies and methods.
Responsibilities
  • Provide project management, general administrative and technical support to Project Managers and the management team in the delivery of capital infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with initiation, coordination and tracking of permit approval, design, tender, and issued for construction submissions.
  • Assist in ensuring project submissions are in compliance with Regional policies and procedures and all other applicable legislations and regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation, coordination and review of project and contracts related documents, reports etc. and obtain sign-offs as required.
  • Assist with initiation, execution and tracking of project related tasks such as issue of construction notices, preparation of after-hours contacts, ordering of project signboards, street name signs, printing of contract documents and drawings and newspaper advertisements etc.
  • Administer the Construction Contract Management System (CCMS) for Public Works including the updating and maintenance of permanent items, price and quantity schedules, estimating price summaries, and construction cost index.
  • Manage and maintain electronic/manual project related data, documentation and files Provide assistance in the design, development and maintenance of capital project delivery related standards, processes, procedures, templates etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
