Reporting to the Manager of Planning & Sustainability, the Project Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the planning, execution, and completion of capital and operational infrastructure projects across GEF’s property portfolio. This role involves managing logistics, coordinating contractors, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and contributing to the success of projects ranging from upgrades to new construction. The Project Coordinator also works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure quality, budget, and scheduling standards are consistently met.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERENCE:

  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), licensed trade, or technical diploma required
  • Project Management designation preferred
  • Trades Certification in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing preferred
  • AutoCAD Technician Certification is required
  • More than 5 years of experience in commercial construction or building infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience with general building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Experience with non-profit and seniors housing environments strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in permit applications, insurance claims, and contractor coordination
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, building code, and project compliance
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and computerized maintenance management systems
  • Familiarity with YARDI and Alberta Purchasing Connection preferred
  • Experience with CCDC contract management documentation and Alberta infrastructure processes

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical construction drawings and site plans
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility to respond to shifting project demands and emergencies as needed
    Details: Full Time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, 8AM to 4PM
    Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules
  • Coordinate permits, procurement, and contractor onboarding
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety, and quality
  • Manage project documentation, drawings, warranties, and reports
  • Lead or support projects including access control systems, video surveillance, hardware upgrades, and emergency repairs
  • Coordinate ALDR insurance claims, including documentation and contractor liaison
  • Support capital improvement initiatives and operational infrastructure planning
  • Collaborate with internal staff, consultants, and contractors to meet project goals
  • Ensure projects follow safety codes, OH&S standards, and municipal bylaws
  • Submit and track permits and ensure compliance before project execution
  • Maintain accurate documentation in YARDI and provide reporting to project leadership
  • Participate in policy and procedure development as directed by senior leadership
  • Provide support on project data management and internal reporting needs
  • Act as a liaison between contractors, vendors, and municipal departments
