Mack Construction Services Ltd. is a growing organization looking to add an experienced Project Coordinator to our team. MACK is a turnkey utility construction company in Alberta. We provide horizontal directional drilling, hydrovac, excavating, trenching, and many other services in the telecom, utility, and pipeline industry. We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated individual who has experience managing telecom, electrical, and utility construction projects from take-off to close-out and wants to grow with our organization. This is a full-time, salary position (salary dependent on experience) with benefits and incentives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to interpret and understand contracts
  • Experience estimating and managing projects
  • Knowledge of construction terms, scheduling requirements, planning concepts, engineered drawings, contracts, change management, and document control
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in construction management, business administration, engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years experience in project coordination (preferably utility construction/telecommunications)
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership abilities to mentor and coach employees to accomplish tasks and goals
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Track record of successfully dealing with internal staff and external clients
  • Experience in the shallow utility installation industry; preferably with telecommunications, OSP construction (underground, aerial, placing, splicing and testing) and directional drilling experience
  • Excellent resource, planning and time management skills
  • Experience with third party project management software; ex: Jira/Atlassian, Quickbase, Vitruvi, etc an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Identifying project opportunities
  • Estimating
  • Identify project and contractual related risks during bidding stage
  • Prepare cost estimates for change orders
  • Travel to potential job sites to complete preliminary visit for quoting purposes
  • Attend client meetings to determine project requirements
  • Assist with preparation of project related budgets
  • Client communication; meetings, deliverables, applications, pre-quals, etc.
  • Effectively manage multiple and competing priorities/timelines
  • Maintain, track and report all financial aspects of project including forecasts and billing
  • Overseeing timely and accurate completion of projects through a construction site schedule and hitting all applicable completion dates to meet client requirements
  • Collaborate with management team and site supervision
  • Maintain accurate records regarding labour, materials, equipment, inventory, billable hours, subcontractor expenses, etc.
  • Manage all changes appropriately as per company policy
  • Monitor project performance via reviews, project meetings and client meetings
  • Evaluate, monitor and report all project related aspects to management team
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes of effectiveness to increase profit margins
  • Resolve customer issues or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Conduct regular project statistics regarding safety, profitability, timelines, etc.
  • Direct, coordinate, and manage activities to promote a safe work environment
  • Provide strategic, practical leadership and mentorship to site foreman/superintendents
  • Assist in developing/implementing procedures and policies to streamline strategic bidding process
  • Manage trade contractor site meetings, RFQ’s and invoices
  • Obtain applicable permits and locates pertaining to each project – tracking and maintaining documents and preparing job packages for site supervisor
