POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Project Manager or a designate, the Project Coordinator oversees execution of various contracts related to the Track, Signals and Communications, Infrastructure and Right-of-Way activities within Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Working closely with the technical experts and qualified on-site personnel, Project Coordinator will manage all aspects of the contract administration, including fulfilling project requirements, promoting safety culture, conducting quality control and assurance, providing internal reports to the management team, and other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager or a designate. Ideal candidate will possess significant knowledge of the project management activities related to heavy construction and transportation, and strong interpersonal skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field of study such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Contract Management or Project Management.
- Experience related to project or contract management in heavy construction or railroad environment.
- Proficiency with common business and construction software such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. Knowledge of Primavera P6, Hard Dollar, and JD Edwards is an asset.
- Demonstrated project management experience in project accounting, project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.), procurement, contract administration, safety, and quality control.
- Ability to apply, interpret and understand contract law and language.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proper grammar and punctuation are mandatory.
- Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to the details and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Creativity and flexibility in all aspects of the work.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Punctuality and commitment to the work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is full-time office position.
- Occasional weekend or night work may be required.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions may be required.
- Majority of the field work is on and around live track (trains).
- Work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas. Accommodations and transportation will be provided, if required.
