Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Project Cost Controller at our corporate headquarters in Houston TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the financial aspects of the project directly at the project site. This role is crucial in ensuring that the project stays within budget and is completed according to the financial plans. The Cost Controller will work closely with project managers, site engineers, and the finance team to track costs, manage budgets, and provide real-time financial insights. Responsibilities Budget Management: · Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets. · Track project costs and expenditures on a daily basis, ensuring they are in line with the approved budget. · Regularly update and forecast project costs and financial status. Cost Tracking & Reporting: · Maintain detailed records of all project-related costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses. · Raise invoices and manage client portal submissions. · Prepare and distribute accurate financial reports, including cost variance analyses, budget reconciliations, and cash flow reports. · Provide on-site daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports to project management and senior leadership. Cost Control: · Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions to project management. · Review and approve purchase orders, change orders, and invoices, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints. · Implement and enforce cost control measures to minimize financial risk. Risk Management: · Assist in identifying financial risks related to the project and propose mitigation strategies. · Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, project contracts, and regulatory requirements. · Conduct regular financial audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Collaboration & Communication: · Work closely with on-site project teams to ensure alignment between financial and project goals. · Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to both on-site teams and corporate finance. · Provide guidance and training on financial processes and best practices to on-site personnel. Project Planning & Forecasting: · Assist in the development of detailed cost plans and schedules for the project. · Monitor progress against the project schedule and adjust financial forecasts accordingly. · Ensure that cost forecasts are accurate and reflect the current project status. Qualifications & Requirements Education · Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field. · Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are preferred but not required. Experience: · Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost control or financial management in the construction or oil & gas industry. · Experience working in an ERP system is highly desired. Skills: · Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. . Able to work in warehouse environment · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Proficiency in financial management software (Oracle NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel. · Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge: · Solid understanding of construction project management, including budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting. · Familiarity with construction contracts, billing practices, and regulatory requirements. Key Competencies: · Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. · Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. · Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Ability to adapt to changing project conditions and financial requirements.
