THE OPPORTUNITY

Arup is seeking a highly experienced Project Design Director to support our strategic targets and to lead the design delivery of major projects specifically within the Technology (Data Centre) sector in Denmark and the Nordics.
This strategic role involves shaping and executing our project and bid delivery strategy, overseeing cross-regional multi-disciplinary teams, driving commercial excellence and innovation across the project lifecycle and representing Arup as Project Design Director. The successful candidate with join the Arup Denmark Leadership team.
The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in managing and leading multi-disciplinary design projects in the technology sector or the science and industry markets and can expect to work across data centre, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and other SIT related industries.

As a SIT Delivery Director at Arup, you will:

  • Be part of the Arup Denmark Leadership
  • Represent Arup as SIT Design Director for key clients and stakeholders, joint venture partners and sub-consultants.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary local and international project teams to successfully deliver SIT projects and proposals
  • Collaborate closely with local and regional SIT business development leaders to support the successful growth and diversification of Arup’s SIT business in Denmark and the Nordics

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Client Relationship Management: Representing Arup as the Project Delivery Director for the client, establishing and developing client relationships, managing client expectations as their trusted advisor. Communicating and working with our clients to ensure that our performance meets their reasonable expectations.
  • Project Leadership: Leading the project delivery team to meet contract obligations, ensuring on-time delivery of design deliverables, maintaining best quality, and upholding health, safety, and wellbeing performance.
  • Resource Management: Overseeing the management of resources on the project, ensuring that key project roles are filled by appropriately experienced and competent members.
  • Financial and Commercial Management: Managing financial and commercial issues that impact the project outcome.
  • Sustainability: Ensure that our obligations for climate, nature, and environment are understood and that project delivery ensures positive outcomes for our client, society, and the planet.
  • Culture and Innovation: Enabling an open culture within the project team where ideas, innovation, and concerns are responded to.
  • Business Development: Providing leadership for the SIT market portfolio within the Denmark Group, building the market to ensure the Group win and deliver the volume of work in accordance with the Group Business Plan.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about leading large-scaled design projects and building long-lasting relationships. We also value:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in managing and leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects in one or more of science, industry or technology markets
  • Degree in Engineering or similar area
  • Proven leadership in delivering SIT projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in business development and managing financial performance
  • Willingness to travel

NOTE: foreign candidates are likely to be eligible for the Danish expat tax reduction scheme.
