JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an engaging Project Development Manager to work directly with main contractors, ensuring our specifications are upheld throughout the project lifecycle. This role is not directly sales-focused but is critical in influencing decision-makers, securing commercial agreements, and positioning our company as a preferred supplier. You will act as the bridge between main contractors, our in-house specification managers, and account managers, ensuring seamless collaboration across all project stakeholders, including architects and subcontractors.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Non-negotiable: Experience in construction, specification sales, and main contractor engagement (working within the RIBA framework).
  • Strong knowledge of main contractor procurement processes and their key concerns (cost, compliance, efficiency, and risk mitigation).
  • Understanding of the BSA, GTW2 and how it impacts the industry
  • Proven ability to negotiate and secure agreements with contractors.
  • Project tracking expertise, understanding when and how to intervene in the project timeline.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to bridge relationships between contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Technical understanding of construction materials/products.
  • Commercial acumen, able to align our offering with the business objectives of main contractors.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Main Contractor Engagement: Build strong relationships with main contractors, understanding their key concerns, procurement processes, and project priorities.
  • Specification Influence: , working closely with architects, subcontractors, and project managers.
  • Commercial Agreements: Negotiate and secure agreements with main contractors to establish us as a preferred supplier.
  • Project Tracking & Strategy: , ensuring at critical phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work alongside:
  • Specification Managers (who engage with architects and consultants)
  • Account Managers (who handle subcontractor relationships)
  • In-House Design Teams (to ensure technical alignment)
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the key point of contact between main contractors and our internal teams, ensuring smooth handover of specifications and alignment with sales teams.
  • Market & Competitor Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor specifications, and main contractor requirements to position our products effectively.
