As the Project Director Africa, Design and Construction, you will own the entire project journey, from initial spark to magnificent completion, ensuring every construction endeavour sets new benchmarks. You will be accountable for ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the exact quality and technical standards that define Belmond's luxury legacy. Primary Responsibilities Include: • Primarily responsible for the successful delivery of Capex renovation projects across the Belmond Africa Portfolio, for overseeing and managing the successful delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion. • Create or oversee the creation (Depending on the size of the project) of comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, and timeline, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners. • Apply for funding, appoint external consultants (if required), and drive the design and construction process, ensuring the projects are delivered within timelines and budgets • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Company, contractors, architects, engineers, and other project external stakeholders • Proactively address any delays or issues that may impact the project timeline and report changes/risks upwards as soon as they become apparent. • Conduct regular design reviews, site visits and inspections to monitor design and construction progress and compliance with design documents and safety, sustainability and any relevant local or international statutory regulations. • Create or oversee creation of contracts with contractors, consultants, and vendors, ensuring all terms and conditions are adhered to, working with the legal department. • Prepare and present regular project status reports for stakeholders including but not limited to SLT members, properties and line manager. • Oversee the final inspection and handover process, including the completion of punch/snag lists and the submission of as-built documentation including O&M manuals • Deep understanding of the construction industry and project management best practices • Excellent financial management skills • Capability to prepare and present regular project status reports and maintain accurate project documentation. • Good technical Acumen with the ability to oversee and ensure projects meet technical, sustainability, and performance standards. • Experience in the luxury travel industry (preferred) and experience in luxury Lodge’s advantageous • Experience with statutory regulations (local and international) related to construction and safety – essential • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying – advantageous What We Offer: At Belmond, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture built on kindness, active listening, and genuine connections with our colleagues and guests.
