Position Title: Project Director
Organisation: Queensland Migrant WorkWise
Reports To: General Secretary, Queensland Council of Unions (QCU)
Direct Reports: Communications Officer, Eight (8) Outreach Officers
Salary: $174,338.83 plus 15 per cent superannuation
Employment Type: Fixed-term contract commencing July 2025 to 30 June 2026
Location: South Brisbane

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

The Project Director will provide strategic leadership, project oversight, and facilitate stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful delivery of the Queensland Migrant WorkWise Project. Reporting directly to the General Secretary of the QCU, the Director will:

  • oversee all aspects of project implementation
  • manage a team, including a communications officer and eight Outreach Officers located in Brisbane and regional centres throughout Queensland
  • engage with key stakeholders such as temporary visa holders, their employers, unions, local business groups, local government, community groups, legal centres, and others
  • ensure the project meets its objectives to provide an effective education and information program and resource to temporary visa holders and their employers in Queensland on their rights and obligations under migration law, the Fair Work Act and work health and safety law.

4. REPORTING & ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Provide regular updates and formal reports to the General Secretary of the QCU, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Engage regularly with the Department in respect of reporting obligations and relevant contractual obligations under the funding grant agreement.
  • Monitor and manage the project budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation in conjunction with the General Secretary and finance staff.
  • Lead project evaluation efforts to assess impact, effectiveness, and sustainability beyond the project’s duration.
