Role Overview The Project Director is responsible for leading the full lifecycle delivery of DayOne’s data centre developments in Hong Kong, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical and compliance standards. This role provides strategic leadership, technical oversight, and operational execution across design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Governance - Lead the overall programme for Hong Kong data centre developments. - Establish governance structures, KPIs, and executive reporting. - Proactively manage regulatory, design, cost, and schedule risks. 2. Project Delivery & Execution - Define and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans. - Guide delivery from feasibility to operational handover. - Ensure statutory approvals and compliance with BD, FSD, EPD and Hong Kong regulations. - Maintain control over quality, schedule, cost, and change management. 3. Technical Excellence - Oversee architectural, structural, MEP, civil and mission-critical engineering systems. - Lead design reviews, resilience planning, and sustainability optimisation. - Drive value engineering and lifecycle cost improvements. - Ensure commissioning frameworks meet Tier standards. 4. Contractor, Consultant & Vendor Management - Select and manage EPCs, QS firms, consultants and specialist vendors. - Build relationships with Hong Kong authorities, CLP / HK Electric, telecom partners. - Oversee contractor QA/QC, H&S, environmental and labour compliance. - Ensure accountability for delivery excellence. 5. PMO & Portfolio Oversight - Manage reporting cadence, dashboards, risks, and programme controls. - Champion improvements in planning tools, methodologies, and digital workflows. - Share best practices across APAC/EMEA project teams. 6. Commercial, Financial & Executive Support - Lead forecasting, cashflow planning, procurement, and claims management. - Build business cases and strategic recommendations for senior leadership. - Maintain oversight of budget, contingency, and contractual obligations. Candidate Profile Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline. - 15+ years experience in large-scale construction; mission-critical preferred. - Strong understanding of Hong Kong statutory processes and regulations. - Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management. - Ability to travel regionally/internationally. Preferred Qualifications: - PMP, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent. - Experience with hyperscale data centres, MEP systems, commissioning. - Strong Hong Kong industry relationships. - MBA/EMBA or advanced engineering degree. - Experience with high-availability technical operations. Success Indicators: - Zero-incident safety performance. - Delivery within cost, schedule, and quality parameters. - Strong relationships with authorities, contractors, and utilities. - High-quality governance, reporting, and risk management. - Scalable processes enabling growth in Hong Kong and GBA.
