The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Director to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.

QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the Project Director is to coordinate the scoping and implementation of a future solution for the Justice Transport Service (JTS), develop business case and lead a future service delivery model in consultation with key stakeholders to provide best value for money through innovation, flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the stakeholders. Person in custody wellbeing, security and industry best practice are central project goals.

As the Project Director, Justice Transport Services Project, some of your duties will include:

  • Representing DJCS on relevant steering committees, project control groups and working groups to advise and provide strategic advice on issues, implications, and project scope.
  • Reporting on JTS progress and tasks, identify and communicate risks and issues as they arise and work collaboratively to mitigate or resolve them respectively.
  • Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team of project managers and technical experts, providing management, expert advice and guidance to project team members.

The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch are responsible for contract management, commercial oversight and advisory services, as well as the effective management and maintenance of all Corrections and Justice Services’ prison and related infrastructure. This includes:

  • The management and oversight of major contracts including the three private prisons, Port Phillip Prison, Ravenhall Correctional Centre and Fulham Correctional Centre.
  • Representing the Corrections and Justice Services’ interests on infrastructure and construction projects to ensure the best possible outcome for stakeholders and commercial partners.
  • The development and implementation of all required systems, processes and policies to sustain this diverse asset portfolio

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects and delivering effective Project Management Frameworks.
  • Proven experience coordinating and developing business cases including feasibility/options papers for projects.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with proficiency in technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Corrections and Justice Services functions and procedures is desirable
