UGL Transport is looking for a passionate & enthusiastic Project/Bid Director to join our team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Development of a winning tender strategy
  • Identification and development of strong internal and external relationships in particular key Government agency stakeholders and prospective technology partner/s
  • Co-ordination and management of an integrated, whole of UGL bid response and submission
  • Managing the process between proposal submission and target contract award.
    This role will also be responsible for undertaking effective measures to comply with UGL Bid Governance, enhance bid process and increase the probability of the company winning the contract (if deemed viable) and successfully completing the project through key coordination of risk and opportunity management and cross functional technical and commercial requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualifications – Engineering, Commerce, Law
  • Proven experience managing multiple Government agencies and technology partners
  • Broad understanding of construction, maintenance and infrastructure sectors
  • Alternately, operational background with high exposure to business development activity/tendering
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering successful and profitable tenders
  • Exceptional time management skills, capability to ensure deadlines are met; work with minimal supervision.
  • Successful win track record in EPC, PPP complex bids
  • Understanding of commercial, contractual, financial and legal issues.
  • Technical and product knowledge.
  • Tendering and bid management knowledge and understanding.
  • Outstanding stakeholder manager skills

WHY IS THE ROLE REQUIRED?

The Transport division has a significant pipeline of new project opportunities to pursue.
Within the Manufacturing & Maintenance businesses, we have a number of significant pipeline targets for M&M with an estimated contract value in excess of multiple $Bn and is a critical pillar for UGL’s future manufacturing strategy in NSW.

JOB PURPOSE

As part of a high-performance team, the role of Project/Bid Director is a dedicated, senior appointment that will have overall responsibility for leading development and execution of UGL’s tender strategy and bid submission. The role will be highly visible at the most senior levels within UGL and across the external client landscape.
Reporting to the GM of UGL Transport - Manufacturing and Maintenance, this role will have overall accountability for leading UGL’s market and client engagement efforts and bid development and submission activities across the full lifecycle to maximise UGL’s potential for contract award.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and coordinate Tender documentation including cross functional requirements and ensure tender gate documentation is completed and submitted on time, within budget and in compliance with company policy and standard procedures.
  • Review documentation ensuring a full and complete understanding of the technical and commercial commitment to which the Company will be obligated.
  • Coordinate and initiate risk assessment and management activities to evaluate all commercial, financial, legislative and resource risk associated with the tender.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations on the progress of the tender and proposal.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the internal functional leads, the customer and relative site operations as necessary
  • Identify the legislative, industrial, political, cultural and economic environment within which the contract would be performed and the impact of this.
  • Coordinate the collation of information required to prepare the submission of the bid proposal. e.g. engineering, suppliers, human resources.
  • Coordinate the development, preparation and issue of requests for quotation.
  • Review subcontractor submissions and evaluate their compliance, accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Maintain an effective system for responding to customer questions relating to the bid proposal.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure the tender and submission is accurate and viable.
  • Develop systems to ensure successful handover from proposal to contract initiation.
  • Coordinate an effective and accurate record management system.
  • Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements.
