PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
  • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification
  • Familiarity with Complete Streets design principles and multimodal planning
  • Experience working with public agencies and private sector clients
  • Active involvement in professional organizations (ITE, ASCE, etc.)
Responsibilities

As a valuable part of our Transportation Business Line, a Project Engineer will work on meaningful community projects across Connecticut, contributing to safer intersections, more efficient roadways, and better multi-modal experiences with responsibilities such as:

  • Prepare traffic operations analyses using Synchro, SimTraffic, and other modeling tools.
  • Develop signal timing plans, intersection improvements, and corridor enhancements
  • Produce traffic engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for signal systems, pavement markings, signing, and intersection geometry
  • Analyze traffic counts, crash data, speed studies, and travel demand to support planning and design decisions
  • Prepare technical memoranda, traffic impact studies, safety audits, corridor studies, and feasibility reports for municipal and state clients
  • Prepare and support state and local permitting efforts, including CTDOT encroachment permits and Traffic Management Plans
  • Conduct site visits to observe traffic operations, evaluate existing conditions, and coordinate with survey and design teams
  • Work closely with roadway, drainage, structural, and environmental teams to support integrated design solutions
  • Support junior engineers with technical guidance, reviews, and professional development
