The Project Engineer is responsible for understanding and supporting the success of the assigned construction project(s).

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge of design software including AutoCAD and CAD/CAM Circuit Design.
  • Proven understanding of compliance and quality assurance guidelines and beset practices.
  • Previous experience with database design and development.
  • Strong field management experience.
  • Experience support Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) Processes.
  • Well organized, excellent communication, and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.
  • Familiarity with construction project management software.
  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work well with supervision and peers.
  • Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
  • Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As a Project Engineer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures that safety goals are achieved for responsible projects and identify safe work practices and areas for improvement.
  • Holds overall responsibility for project engineering including shop drawing and submittal review/coordination, ordering material, sequencing material, providing solutions to layout/drawing discrepancies, supporting layout engineers/surveyors and developing construction technical knowledge.
  • Supports concrete and civil estimating including quantity takeoffs, estimates, proposal development and subcontractor scopes/pricing.
  • Assists with project planning including conceiving of civil and concrete means/methods, schedules and subcontractor coordination.
  • Supports project superintendent and craft foreman with project execution, field management and day-to-day coordination.
  • Assists Project and Assistant Project Manager with subcontractor/vendor buyout, commitments and scope execution.
  • Estimates and quotes extra work and documents changes, ensures extras are loaded into Viewpoint/logs and track/act on Owner contract changes.
  • Holds overall responsibility for completing and tracking project documentation including but not limited to RFI’s, submittals, safety forms, drawing logs, material logs, equipment logs and time/material tickets.
  • Works with project team to develop project and look-ahead schedules.
  • Supports Civil and Concrete Strategic Planning initiatives, effectively implements and ensures compliance with strategic plan.

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or other relevant course work.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Or equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

  • One (1) or more years of work experience in construction or a related job field
