Description

Hartley People Recruitment is seeking a driven and detail-focused Project Engineer to join a respected civil, structural, and transport engineering consultancy based in Kilkenny. This is a long-term, growth-focused opportunity for an engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in consultancy design work, ideally with Irish project exposure.
The role offers a diverse project portfolio spanning education, housing, public infrastructure, and drainage schemes — ideal for someone ready to take ownership of their own projects and grow into a senior role.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a civil/structural consultancy setting.
  • Solid understanding of Irish construction standards and regulatory processes.
  • Proficient in Eurocode structural design and SUDS drainage for public and private sector projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Site 3D.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal redrafting, but also thrive in a collaborative team.
  • A proactive approach, excellent attention to detail, and strong written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality civil and structural engineering designs using Eurocodes, including steel, concrete, and masonry design for buildings and infrastructure.
  • Design SUDS-based drainage systems and manage supporting calculations and layouts using tools like Site 3D.
  • Produce and modify drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Manage your own projects from concept through to construction stage, ensuring all deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Work closely with directors and other engineers to coordinate project delivery and client communication.
  • Attend site visits, design meetings, and technical reviews where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in documentation, reporting, and project workflows.
