EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A relevant Bachelor’s (NFQ Level 8) qualification in Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Electrical National Craft Certificate is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, ability to read & understand electrical SLDs.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, BMS or equivalent data-driven system.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols, i.e. Modbus, BACnet, OPC, MQTT.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks within a project.
  • Capability to conduct hands-on technical commissioning work.
  • Basic understanding of IT/Networking.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well individually and within a team.
  • Excellent Reporting and Documentation skills.
  • Experience in G Suite - Docs, Sheets, Slides etc

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

In this role, you will join our Data Acquisition Team and focus on developing and implementing data acquisition solutions to enable the deployment of Cool Planet’s data analytics platform, CoolPlanetOS, on a customer’s site. These solutions are developed through initial on-site audits to gain an understanding and insight into the customer’s site, detailed engineering design, implementation, and commissioning.
As a Data Acquisition Engineer, you will be involved in various stages of the project lifecycle, from the initial audit to the point of handover of the CoolPlanetOS account to our Optimisation Engineering Team. CoolPlanet operates in various industries from food processing to manufacturing, resulting in the data-acquisition solutions being dynamic and differing from one project to the next.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend customer sites to conduct audits of their data-driven systems and existing metering.
  • Identify where the key data resides within a client site that is of importance to the project.
  • Prepare & deliver detailed site audit reports.
  • Prepare detailed design documents for customers, outlining the solution for implementing CoolPlanetOS.
  • Prepare quotations, outlining pricing and costs associated with each project.
  • Define IT/OT requirements for projects and interact with internal & external stakeholders, vendors & contractors.
  • Prepare Scope of Works documents for contractors, outlining the works to be completed, materials to be used, CAD design drawings, etc.
  • Prepare & manage project schedules and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Design and build bespoke panel enclosures to house data acquisition hardware.
  • Commissioning of newly installed Data acquisition hardware - edge computers/gateways, electrical meters, Modbus gateways, digital/analogue IO modules.
  • Mapping of data from a customer site to CoolPlanetOS through the use of communication protocols - Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning and handover documentation to be issued to the customer.
  • Configure the customer’s account, set up assets and their respective datasets in preparation for handover to the Customer Success team.
