Responsibilities Our newest opportunity is for a Project Engineer - Environment to join our team based in Lisbon or Porto, Portugal. Reporting directly to a Project Manager in our award-winning Sustainability and Environment Division, this role is responsible to directly work in the development of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and related studies. We envisage success in this role to include; Supporting the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies, including baseline data review, impact identification, assessment, and mitigation design. Assisting in scoping and screening processes, helping to define the terms of reference and study boundaries for environmental assessments. Working with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., ecology, air quality, noise, water, social, heritage) to assess specialized inputs. Availability to conduct site visits, ensuring data collection aligns with project requirements and international best practice. Preparing technical sections of EIA reports, including environmental descriptions, impact analysis, and management or monitoring plans. Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation, standards, and guidelines, both local and international (e.g., IFC, Equator Principles). Supporting the Project Managers in the engagement with clients and stakeholders to clarify project information, data requirements, and environmental commitments. Assisting in preparing environmental deliverables for project proposals, including technical methodologies, resource estimates, and schedules. Reviewing and compiling environmental data. Participating in project meetings and presentations, communicating environmental findings and recommendations clearly. Staying updated with environmental trends and regulatory changes relevant to EIA and sustainability. Supporting Project Managers in monitoring progress, budgets, and timelines for environmental tasks. Qualifications To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include: Up to 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental consultancy, preferably with exposure to EIA studies. Good understanding of EIA processes, methodologies, and regulatory frameworks. Experience in local and international standards (e.g.,IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank Guidelines) would be advantageous. Experience contributing to multidisciplinary environmental studies, integrating data from various specialists (air, noise, water, ecology, social, etc.). Ability to analyze and interpret environmental data and translate findings into clear, structured technical reports. Strong writing and communication skills in English and Portuguese; ability to prepare high-quality technical deliverables. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word; familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) is an advantage. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
