Freyssinet Australia is seeking a Project Engineer / Estimator with strong hands‑on site experience to join our Melbourne-based Remedial team. This is an opportunity to work on technically complex remediation and strengthening projects that extend the life of critical infrastructure across Australia. If you enjoy being involved both on-site and during early project phases, shaping methodologies, contributing to tenders, and supporting specialist construction solutions, this role offers true variety and long-term development. The Role As a Project Engineer / Estimator in our Remedial division, you will contribute to both site delivery and pre-contract activities—bringing practical construction knowledge into estimating, planning, and tender development. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering, technical, and delivery teams to develop innovative, competitive solutions for a wide range of remedial projects across the region. This position is based in Melbourne. Key Responsibilities 🔹 Apply practical, hands-on construction knowledge to develop accurate cost estimates 🔹 Support development of construction methodologies, staging, programs and delivery strategies 🔹 Assist in preparing detailed and competitive tender submissions 🔹 Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and validate methodologies 🔹 Provide engineering input into pre-contract planning, risk reviews and constructability 🔹 Participate in site visits, inspections and assessments to support accurate scoping Types of Projects You’ll support and help deliver specialist works such as: Concrete repair and rehabilitation Protective coatings and marine asset maintenance Steel and CFRP structural strengthening Bridge, wharf, industrial, commercial and water infrastructure upgrades About You You bring strong technical understanding from the field and thrive in a collaborative, problem-solving environment. Essential: ✔ Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role ✔ Hands-on site experience in remedial works, strengthening, marine, or specialist construction ✔ Strong capability in planning, methodologies, costing input, and document preparation ✔ Ability to interpret drawings, scopes, and site conditions ✔ Strong communication, organisation, and a proactive approach Previous estimating experience is beneficial but not essential – training will be provided for the right engineering-background candidate.
