OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer will develop complete Project Plans per the customers specifications and relevant regulations. The Project Engineer will support the projects from start to finish including the Design, Manufacturing, and Installation. The Project Engineer will also assist in the development and improvement of Fireblast’s standard Systems and Products.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering-Related Education (B.S. Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years working experience in an Engineering role.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Motivated Self-Starter capable of working independently and in team environments. Candidate will be a results-driven individual, dedicated to fulfilling both team members’ and customers’ needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management, and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to improve and foster an organized Engineering Department.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Project Plan Drawing Packages defining System Layouts, ESL Diagrams, P&IDs, and Installation Details, using AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate closely with outside Architects, Structural Engineers, Mechanical Subcontractors, Electrical Subcontractors, General Contractors, and Customers to ensure the smooth delivery and installation of multi-party fixed-installation projects, centered around Fireblast’s Firefighting Simulation Systems. This includes coordination of Architectural/Structural Designs, Facility Utilities, and In-Building infrastructure to ensure compatibility with Fireblast’s Systems.
  • Develop a strong understanding of NFPA 1402 Regulations and how they apply to the design and implementation of Live Fire Training Simulation Systems.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Firefighting Training Academies’ needs to develop products and systems to simulate firefighting scenarios.
  • Maintain engineering-related portions of company-wide ERP System (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
  • Develop BOMs and all relevant Technical Documentation for customer projects.
  • Determine proper Components, Methods, and Materials for customer projects.
  • Develop 3D Models and 2D Drawings of system components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Occasionally travel to customer jobsites to verify installation accuracy and compliance with Fireblast standards.
  • Identify Product and System improvement opportunities, to increase efficiency, safety, and value to the customer.
  • Support the Installation team from project start to finish, answering questions and verifying proper installation.
  • Perform analytical and experimental testing on new products to ensure proper operation. Improve products and systems based on testing results.
  • Support Manufacturing team during manufacturing of systems.
  • Develop new product concepts to offer maximum training value to firefighting academies.
  • Communicate with outside vendors to source new components to develop and improve fire simulation systems.
  • Participate and Contribute to our 5S Lean work culture of Continuous Improvement.
