MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The individual shall possess a BS Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering. 4+ years of engineering experience in a product development team environment, with 2 or more years focused on technology maturation & implementation and equipment development in a military, aerospace or medical business environment. Experience working with electromechanical and/or pneumatic test systems is required. Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies, working with software application developers for military applications in an AS9100 environment preferred. ABOUT THE JOB! The Project Engineer works closely with Engineering, Program Management, Product Management and to develop new aviation life support equipment (ALSE) and operational processes. The individual is responsible for researching and evaluating commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment, defining and maturing new operational processes and developing specific test equipment for life support maintainers. The Project Engineer collaborates with a variety of technical resources including university partners, test equipment suppliers, ALSE maintainers, USN & USAF subject matter experts (SME) as well as internal SME’s to deliver technical solutions that meet customer requirements and organization objectives. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: · Strong computer skills using Solidworks Computer Aided Design (CAD) and business applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook. · Ability to direct or create CAD models of a fidelity that is appropriate for the task. · Be mechanically inclined and have a technical understanding of electromechanical and pneumatic test system design and usage. · Familiar with digital scanning technologies with the ability to learn user level operations and data conversion processes. · Ability to collaborate and influence the direction of resources developing software solutions. · Familiar with military specifications and standards for use in military product development. · Detail oriented with a biased curiosity that results in actions and results. · Ability to prepare and present options and solutions for internal and external reviews and discussions. · Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. · Work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects, prioritize daily activities, make technical decisions within the scope of instructions, produce consistent, accurate, timely work. · Familiar with Systems Engineering, AS9100 procedures for Design Reviews, Inputs/Outputs, and New Product Introduction stages and gates to ensure customer and company requirements are met. · Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and familiarity with engineering drafting standards and conventions (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14-100, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.35, ASME Y14.34, DOD-100, and Global design/drafting standards). RESPONSIBILITIES: Voice of the Customer · Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to achieve alignment on requirements and solicit feedback on proposed development solutions. · Research COTS and development options then prepare decision making trade studies. · Brief government sponsors and program management on development status. Evaluation & Testing · Collaborate with university partners to mature digital face scanning technology for mask sizing. · Verify performance and evaluate functionality and robustness of (COTS) test equipment. · Lead evaluations for the effectiveness and compatibility of (COTS) systems for ALSE maintainers. Development · Lead and manage CAD designers in the development of Solidworks Assembly models. · Define and develop detailed engineering drawing packages. · Collaborate with partners and program management on partnering Statements of Work (SOW). · Provide feedback and direction to external equipment developers on needed improvements. · Work with external research partners on scanning technology and custom software development. · Prepare and present materials for internal and customer meetings and design reviews. · Create and manage project schedules with Program Managers as required. · Provide monthly status reports on activities and progress. Product Qualification · Collaborate with Systems and Test Engineers in developing qualification test plans. · Provide Test Lead with documented test hardware as requested per schedules. · Provide input and review of test reporting communications and qualification test reports (QTR) Configuration Management · Work with document control in maintaining configuration traceability during development. · Lead document control in the generation and release of Technical Data Packages (TDP). · Collaborate in the development of Operation and Maintenance Manuals (OMM) Planning and Leadership · Provide inputs in developing basis of estimates (BOE) to establish scope, hours and scheduling. · Ability to lead Interns, etc. in performing assigned tasks. · Work to established project/program schedules.
