OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking a qualified Project Engineer with experience in Tunneling and/or Underground Projects, including tunnels, shafts, other underground structures, and heavy civil construction projects. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating heavy civil projects—including tunnels, bridges, and mass transit systems—executed by Obayashi Corporation. Your role will focus on managing self-perform activities and ensuring effective coordination with subcontractors. This role is based in Boring, Oregon, and will report to the Project Manager.

Education & Work Experience:

• A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering or an engineering degree is required.
• 5+ years combined experience in construction/engineering for tunneling, mining, or underground works

Skills:

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and BlueBeam.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies

• Develops engineering plans for the project, including the development of submittals.
• Manage and direct engineering staff and subcontractors to achieve project requirements and goals.
• Supports overall project safety efforts and ensures safety standards are met and exceeded.
• Supports the overall Quality Control Program and assists in implementation on the jobsite.
• Coordinates and oversees project material purchasing.
• Oversees project-required consultants and engineers.
• Ensures the project schedule is updated and establishes procedures for measuring and monitoring the delivery of materials and progress by subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepares and delivers required project reporting to the home office.
• Oversees and manages the purchasing of required project equipment.
• Assist in change management, gathering information, or developing pricing for changes to the work.
