SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer I with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Project Engineer will review, provide analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants. RESPONSIBILITIES * Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons * Implement the pre-construction quality plan * Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses * Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, Non-Conformance Report * Manage, create, and distribute contract documents * Establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence) * Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase * Manage testing and inspection processes for construction quality management * Implement three-phase inspection system * Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and off-site testing procedures * Notify Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming test results or inspection items * Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing * Expedite submittals to align with project schedule * Communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers * Issue submittal requirement letters * Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architect * Coordinate subcontractor details: verify insurance, prepare paperwork, request final payment * Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders * Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents * Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation into contract document updates * Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers * Determine alternative work methods as needed * Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members * Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management * Minimum of two years related construction experience * Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks * Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices * Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills * Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills * Current driver’s license A few benefits offered include: (for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week) * Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverage * Dental plan * 401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson match * Paid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves * Employer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insurance * No-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resources * Tuition reimbursement * Adoption Assistance * Gym Membership Discount Program The base pay range for this role is $84,100 MIN - $113,500 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
