The Project Engineer III is responsible for providing technical engineering and project control support on our heavy civil and transportation construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills and appropriately prioritize those tasks’ completion.
C.A. Rasmussen, Inc. is seeking out candidates with all levels of construction management experience for Project Engineer I, II, and III roles. Primary responsibilities of a Project Engineer are similar but with an expected higher level of proficiency for the senior-level position. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROJECT ENGINEER

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum five years’ heavy civil construction experience
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus a demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines
  • Caltrans experience strongly preferred
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) training a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
    Location: TBD (Project specific within an approximate 45-mile radius of our Valencia, CA corporate office).
    Salary: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year depending on experience
    Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and crews on project deliverables
  • Manage job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data throughout the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance
  • Process/manage material deliveries, ensuring that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and are compliant with contract specifications, where applicable
  • Assist in management of submittals, approvals and resubmittal
  • Initiate and manage Requests for Information (RFI) when additional information is needed
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed
  • Maintain accurate production quantities to be entered into cost control system
  • Track accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported
  • Manage invoicing with corporate accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Participate in monthly forecast revenue and cost accrual meetings
    · High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.

· Compile all necessary data and assist in the preparation of monthly pay estimates

  • Process owner billings and project related accounting issues
  • Process and estimate change orders as directed by the project manager
  • Develop and maintain all job reporting and logs to ensure project compliance
  • Review and approve crew timecards
  • Perform complex structure quantity take-offs
  • Evaluate and add to library of historical cost and productivity rates
  • Analyze required subcontractor coordination requirements
  • Produce estimates for complex self-perform bid items
  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction
