Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Facades Engineer, you will own the engineering package from concept through handover: design calculations, detail development, technical submittals, procurement support, QA/QC, and site coordination. You’ll work closely with architects, main contractors, fabricators, and installation teams to ensure safety, performance, and quality targets are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and verify structural and thermal calculations for aluminium/glass systems (stick/unitized curtain wall, spider/point-fixed glazing, ACP/rainscreen, skylights, canopies, louvers).
  • Develop system details, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings; coordinate interfaces, tolerances, and movement/anchorage details.
  • Prepare and manage technical submittals (method statements, ITPs, material approvals, mock-up/test plans) and respond to RFIs.
  • Perform material take-offs (MTOs) and support procurement with specifications, datasheets, and supplier evaluations.
  • Review third-party designs and test reports; ensure compliance with project specs, ASCE 7/IBC, BS/EN, and UAE authority requirements (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Civil Defense).
  • Plan and attend site inspections, coordinate with site engineers/foremen, and resolve technical issues during installation.
  • Lead value engineering while maintaining performance criteria (air/water/wind/thermal/acoustic).
  • Track deliverables and risks; report progress against program and quality KPIs.
