POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression and Process is currently recruiting an Project Engineer – Lead (Package) to work at our Glenmore Office location (Suite 240, 4000 Glenmore Court SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 5R8).
This role is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, development, and implementation of packaging solutions for products. This role involves managing a team of package engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the efficient and effective execution of packaging projects. Reporting to the Engineering Manager (Packaged Equipment), the Project Engineer Lead - Package plays a key role in providing technical expertise, guiding packaging design and optimization efforts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and driving continuous improvement in packaging processes. The Project Engineer Lead - Package will manage and assist with all technical and manufacturing issues on multiple Projects, and will utilize their expertise to provide engineering support to the Service department during equipment commissioning and start-up. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and guiding junior Engineers and Engineering Technologists, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives of the Engineering Department, managing stakeholder relationships, and continuously improving packaging processes and strategies to meet customer needs and enhance operational efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years experience in package engineering (compression, refrigeration and gas processing, packaging/manufacturing), including design, development, and project management.
- Strong technical knowledge of packaging design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ensures the incorporation of lessons learned from previous projects into the engineering of current projects.
- Experience working at a leadership capacity with Project Engineers/Technologist and designers.
- Strong knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, VMG)
- Strong knowledge of requirements from Engineering jurisdictions (ABSA, EGBC, TSASK, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of ASME / ANSI / API Codes, good knowledge of CSA Codes.
- Strong technical knowledge of packaging design principles, materials, and fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
- Proficient with NAVISWORK Freedom for 3D Model Review
- Knowledge of regulations, standards, and certifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
