We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Telecommunications Department for an 18-24 month term in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate in Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with a minimum of seven years’ related experience, three

of which must be directly related to project management.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification is considered an asset.
  • Project Management experience related to projects associated with telecommunications as it relates to design, construction

and commissioning activities would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for effectively and efficiently managing Telecommunication Department projects.
  • Lead the development of strategies for executing projects that are in alignment with the corporate direction.
  • Lead, direct and prepare project plans, schedules, budgets, contract specifications, and recommendations for assigned

projects.

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and development to direct reports and peers, fostering a positive work climate and ensuring

the effectiveness and compatibility of a diverse work group. Responsible for Performance Management including regular

preparation of performance appraisals and development plans.

  • Interface with internal or external Customers and/or Contractors on a regular basis to understand and respond to

questions/concerns.

  • Work with all sections in the department to ensure work associated with contracts and projects are executed in accordance

with established scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Monitor project participants’ accountability for initiating and/or adhering to the technical scope of work, project schedules, and

approved budgets.

  • Assess the impact of deviations from scope, schedule, or budget and make recommendations on how to deal with those

impacts.

  • Represent the Telecommunications Department and interface with numerous stakeholders both internal and external to the

Corporation to ensure communication on all aspects of contracts and projects. External stakeholders include Government,

third party Customers, Contractors, and Indigenous Communities.

  • May participate in the development of department business plan and may recommend strategy for department and business

unit within area of technical expertise.

  • Responsible for the inputs into C55 through project stages.
  • May manage/administer small to medium contracts which include selecting and negotiating with vendors/suppliers and

negotiating the terms/conditions of contracts.
